The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Lapid sneaks back into half guard. Lapid works his way to full guard. Good work. Lapid is looking for a triangle but Silva pushes his legs off easily.
Silva's corner is telling him to maintain position. Silva thows a big elbow that misses. Lapid is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lapid is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lapid has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Lapid looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Silva is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lapid escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lapid is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lapid is breathing heavily. Silva wants to pass the guard but Lapid is keeping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lapid has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though. Silva throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Silva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. That's two minutes gone in the round. I looks like Silva might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Lapid is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Lapid is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silva defends well. Lapid looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Lapid had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Silva defends it easily. Lapid working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Silva wants to pass the guard but Lapid is keeping the position. Silva is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Lapid looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Lapid can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Silva controls the pace. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lapid throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Silva loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lito Lapid dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Silva rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lapid moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Lapid fails with the takedown. Silva slaps away a takedown attempt from Lapid, before circling back to the center of the mat. Silva clinches up against the cage. Lapid drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lito Lapid. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lapid can't get the takedown.
Silva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lapid shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense. Lapid avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lapid checks a leg kick. Silva with a body punch. A glancing blow. Silva gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Silva tries to land knees in the clinch but Lapid avoids the damage to the body. Lapid drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Silva drags the fight down to the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lapid stops Silva from standing up. Lapid passes Silva's left leg - he's now in half guard. Lapid is working for a kimura but Silva is defending it quite comfortably.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Lapid is working for a submission of some sort.
Lapid is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Silva doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lapid. Silva is trying to stand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Lapid is looking for a kimura but Silva is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lapid to get the leverage. Silva looks like he's trying to stand up.
Silva tries to roll over but Lapid keeps him under control. Lapid seems to be working for a kimura but Silva defends the submission attempt. Lapid in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Silva tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Lapid!
