Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert al Matador! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Malcolm Hopkins! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! al Matador looks to score with a jab to the body but Hopkins is just out of range. Hopkins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in al Matador's guard. al Matador can't keep his opponent in guard - Hopkins advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Hopkins is trying to control. al Matador wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hopkins trying to control the pace. Hopkins is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and al Matador defends it well. al Matador knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hopkins on the ground. al Matador pushes Hopkins off looking to stand but Hopkins dives back in and keeps control.
Hopkins throwing shots but al Matador is blocking nicely. Hopkins seems to be working for a kimura but al Matador defends the submission attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. al Matador taking some punishment here, with Hopkins in his half guard. Hopkins looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hopkins is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
al Matador is not content to let Hopkins control the position. al Matador trying to control here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hopkins works his way into side control. Hopkins throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Hopkins has hold of al Matador's arm. He's looking for a kimura. al Matador seems comfortable defending it but Hopkins has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! al Matador is real pain and he's forced to tap out! al Matador is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Hopkins couldn't care less - he's delighted!
