Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shooter McGavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter has chosen Til I Collapse by Eminem as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Shooter McGavin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shooter McGavin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Carter! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McGavin moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Carter swats away the attempt to clinch by McGavin. McGavin shoots in but Carter avoids the takedown attempt easily. Carter scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Carter keeps the fight on the outside. Carter misses with a wild body shot. The fight stays on the outside here - McGavin looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Shooter McGavin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McGavin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carter paws at him with a jab and circles away. McGavin is looking to take this fight into the clinch. McGavin fails in his attempt to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carter decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Carter is figuring out what he wants to do next. Carter trying to mount his opponent but McGavin defends it. McGavin tries to kick Carter off but Carter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Carter is keen to just control but McGavin is a slippery customer. Carter stalling. McGavin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carter is working away from the top position though. Carter throwing shots but McGavin is blocking nicely. Carter lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. McGavin is trying to stand back up but Carter is controlling him

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. McGavin wants to clinch up but Carter keeps it at a distance. McGavin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Carter fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with McGavin, pushing him back against the cage. McGavin connects with a nasty looking knee right to Carter's face.

Carter has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. McGavin avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. McGavin is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Carter wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
McGavin lands an elbow inside that Carter shrugs off. Carter wants to get back to striking at distance but McGavin won't allow it.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Carter prevents a takedown attempt there.

Carter cracks McGavin with an elbow. That is naaassty. Carter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McGavin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Carter trying to control the action but McGavin is working from the bottom. Carter slows the pace down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Carter scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at McGavin to see if he's OK. Carter working away. McGavin is trying to buck Carter off. McGavin taking punishment in the form of punches.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carter cracks McGavin with a big elbow. Carter working the ground and pound from side control. You can see the frustration on McGavin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Carter controls the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Carter dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Carter lands a body shot. McGavin tries to pull guard but Carter holds him up against the cage and eventually McGavin drops back down to his feet.

Carter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. John Carter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A combination from Carter does no damage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McGavin darts in trying to clinch and Carter counters with a straight right hand.

McGavin pushes off an throws an elbow but Carter leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Carter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
McGavin darts in trying to clinch so Carter counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Carter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McGavin is keeping the position for now. Carter postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Carter trying to control the position from guard on top but McGavin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McGavin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Carter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Carter has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McGavin is proving hard to escape from. McGavin looking to sweep here. No luck so far. McGavin keeping full guard, as Carter tries to pass. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. McGavin wants to clinch but Carter slips to the side and Carter counters by moving into the clinch. McGavin throws a knee to the head but misses.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Carter digs a right hand underneath McGavin's ribcage. McGavin let out a lung full of air as it connected. Carter stalling in the clinch.
McGavin keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Carter's efforts to push away. McGavin keeps control of Carter as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Carter lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Carter tightens his grip and picks McGavin up, before dumping him to the ground. McGavin manages to land in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carter scoring with some ground and pound. Carter looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter trying to control but McGavin is working from the bottom. Carter pushing down on McGavin's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Carter is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. McGavin on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Carter lands strikes from half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Carter connects with a nice short shot to McGavin's temple. Carter wants to lay and pray for a moment but McGavin keeps working. McGavin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. McGavin is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Carter pulls his head out easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carter wants to work for an arm triangle but McGavin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Carter seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. McGavin wants to get back to his feet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Carter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. McGavin was covering up waiting for the punch and Carter finishes the takedown easily into guard. McGavin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Carter is aware though and is defending well. Carter postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McGavin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Carter controls the pace. Carter connects with a couple of short punches. Carter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Still in the clinch, Carter scores with a nice short uppercut. Carter is looking to control McGavin's arms but McGavin gets an underhook and turns him. Now Carter has his back to the cage. McGavin misses with a knee strike.

McGavin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Carter wants to control from the top but McGavin keeps moving. McGavin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Carter scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Carter landing with the ground and pound. McGavin looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Carter passes into side control.
Carter lands a nice forearm strike. Carter lands an elbow. McGavin takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. John Carter has got the better of the ground game so far. You can see the frustration on McGavin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. McGavin is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

And that's the end of the fight! John Carter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Carter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
