Chamakh comes to the cage accompanied by Linda Sundblad - To All My Girls. Karim Chamakh has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ricardo Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chamakh ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Chamakh shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Chamakh was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Martinez is wriggling around trying to escape.
Martinez is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Chamakh looking to control but Martinez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chamakh controlling the pace for now.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Martinez is in all sorts of trouble here.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Chamakh cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Martinez looks to land a combination. Chamakh sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Karim Chamakh has been cut.

Chamakh remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Chamakh is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Martinez reverses the position - he's now on top in Chamakh's guard.

I would just about give that final round to Ricardo Martinez.
I think Martinez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
