Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Urijah Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn takes a swing at Lewis's ribcage but misses.

Penn shoots in and bounces Lewis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Penn loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Penn trying to control the position from guard on top but Lewis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Penn trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Penn gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Penn shoots in for a double leg but Lewis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Penn shoots in for a takedown but Lewis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Penn scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Penn throws an elbow but Lewis slips to the side and avoids it well.

Penn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lewis knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Penn tries for a kimura but Lewis is defending well.
Penn is breathing heavily.
Lewis wants to control but Penn postures up.
Penn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lewis is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
You can see the frustration on Lewis's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Penn is looking to take a break and control but Lewis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Penn creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Penn goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lewis has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Penn but great work by Lewis.
Penn manages to get back to half guard.
Lewis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Lewis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Penn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lewis is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Penn has managed to free his arm - good work.
Lewis wants to advance to full mount but Penn doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Penn wants to stand and escape but Lewis is having none of it.
Lewis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Penn lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lewis!
Penn with the ground and pound from mount.
Penn misses with a head shot.

Penn goes for an armbar but Lewis turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Lewis.
Penn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Penn has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Lewis doesn't defend quickly enough and Penn has managed to lock this one up! Can Lewis escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Penn on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Urijah Penn!
