Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Flipper Gill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith has chosen For Whom The Bell Tolls as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Flipper Gill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenny Smith! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gill lands with an uppercut that bounces Smith off the cage and back into rage. A slow jab from Smith misses its intended target. Smith throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Gill throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gill off to one side. Gill fails with a takedown attempt. Gill pushes Smith up against the cage in a clinch. Gill jumps guard but Smith stands there with Gill around his waist. Gill gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Flipper Gill. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smith lands with a right to the head. Smith lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Gill or not. Smith working some nice short punches in the clinch. A left hand lands to the body for Smith.
Smith gets through Gill's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Gill lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Smith. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Smith digs a right hand into Gill's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Gill's gas tank. Gill is breathing heavily. Smith's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Smith lands a left hand that snaps the head of Gill backwards. Smith lands with a short punch from the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Smith is pushing Gill up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Gill tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Smith smiles and moves away.
Gill moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off. Good exchange - Smith coming out on top. Smith throws a jab when Gill was well out of range. Smith uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gill. Gill ducks under a wild hook from Smith. Kenny Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Gill slips a jab and a cross from Smith.
Gill connects with a single shot there. Gill tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center. Kenny Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smith connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Gill momentarily.
Smith lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Smith misses with a body shot.
Smith works Gill's body with a nice hook. Smith tests Gill's chin there with a solid looking shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith misses with a straight left. Gill fails with a takedown attempt. Gill takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smith thows a left - swing and a miss! Smith works Gill's body with a nice hook. Smith takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Gill fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Gill moves out of range as Smith strikes. Smith lands an overhand right. Smith darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Smith slips a jab from Gill. Smith pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Gill has taken the fight to the clinch.
Smith stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Gill pulls Smith into guard.
Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gill has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Gill's legs - danger averted. Smith is looking to stand up but Gill won't let him. Smith is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Gill working for a triangle but Smith defends it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith wants to stand but Gill has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Gill working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smith manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gill is trying to keep Smith in close.
Gill has a closed guard, preventing Smith from standing up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gill is pulling down on Smith's head to control his posture. Smith wants to stand but Gill is controlling his posture from full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kenny Smith dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Smith scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gill doesn't seem bothered though. Smith missing with a left hand there. Gill was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Gill avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Gill displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Smith throws out the jab. Smith bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Gill uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smith. Smith throws a predictable looking body shot
and Gill cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Gill throws a hook but Smith blocks it. Gill moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off. Smith throws a shot from downtown. Gill moves away and avoids it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith misses with the combination.
Gill scores with a jab. Smith acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Gill will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Gill gets the takedown into side control. Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gill. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smith can't do much from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gill working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Gill cracks Smith with a big elbow. Gill sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Smith is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Gill in side control, just content to control the action for now. Smith avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Gill.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gill throwing strikes but Smith manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Smith is staying tight to Gill's torso, preventing him from escaping. Smith working away. Smith advances to mount. Smith trying to control but he's not successful this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gill wants to hold on but Smith pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gill is working to get back to half guard.
Smith get's back to his feet. Nice cross by Gill. Gill misses with a wild body shot. Smith looks to land a combination but Gill avoids it well. Gill shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Gill keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Smith comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Gill shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith as he avoids it easily. Kenny Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Gill is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Smith. Smith misses with a straight right. Gill misses with a hook. Gill lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Gill gets a takedown into half guard. Gill trying to control from half guard but Smith is working away. Gill missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Smith wants to improve his position but Gill is controlling well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Smith misses with an uppercut. Gill saw that one coming. Smith slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Smith swinging wildly here.
Gill clinches up with Smith and pushes him back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gill drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith stalling in the clinch but Gill improves position. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Gill working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Gill blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Smith lands a nice uppercut. Gill tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Smith just stands there and leans against the cage. Smith misses with some punches.

and Gill counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Smith throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gill on the side of the head. Smith thows a body shot but no joy. Flipper Gill has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gill blocks a jab. Smith stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Smith throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Gill tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away. Gill looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Gill shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Smith manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Gill looking to pass the guard. Gill slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Gill has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gill throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Flipper Gill. I think Smith has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
