Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Smasher! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kelvin Keenan! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smasher shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Smasher connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Keenan momentarily.
Smasher misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Keenan.
Smasher really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Keenan dodges the punch combination from Smasher.
Joe Smasher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Keenan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Keenan tries for a takedown but Smasher sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Keenan. Keenan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Keenan moves away from the strike by Smasher. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smasher jabs at Keenan's body. Smasher misses with a low kick.
Keenan moves in looking to clinch but Smasher pushes him off. Smasher jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Smasher tries to clinch but Keenan is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Keenan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Smasher counters with a left and a right that stings Keenan. Keenan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smasher as he avoids it easily. Joe Smasher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kelvin Keenan. Keenan throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Smasher!
Smasher moves into the clinch. A short right from Smasher on the inside. Good body shot from Smasher.
Still in the clinch, Smasher scores with a nice short uppercut.
Keenan is rocked! Stalling in the clinch from Smasher.
Keenan is still on wobbly legs! Can Smasher finish him? Smasher dips a shoulder and cracks Keenan with a mighty uppercut! Keenan falls back against the cage and Smasher unloads with a barrage of strikes! Keenan is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Smasher screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Smasher! Joe Smasher retains his bantamweight title!
