Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derrel Grenier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Grenier as he avoids it easily.
Grenier shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed Grenier's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jones throws a big shot that misses.
Jones slow jab from Grenier misses its intended target.
Jones looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Grenier looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Grenier is breathing heavily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jones lands a nice short elbow.
Jones looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Grenier with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Grenier to get to his feet.
Jones sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Grenier's defenses. It connects perfectly with Grenier's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mike Jones!
