Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alex Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Hawks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mason kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is This is War. Hawks is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: La Grange . Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Mason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Hawks! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hawks connects with a jab. Mason throws a series of punches but Hawks moves out of range. Mason is looking to clinch but Hawks is avoiding it.
Mason tries to clinch there but Hawks circles away.
Mason has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Hawks. Mason takes a kick to the side of the head. Hawks lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hawks.
Hawks bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Mason shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hawks as he jumps to the side. Hawks clinches up with Mason and pushes him back against the cage. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Mason wants a takedown but no success here.
Mason has clasped his hands together around Hawks's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Mason has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Mason scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hawks drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Hawks postures up in Mason's guard and throws a big left but Mason blocks it. Hawks scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Mason utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Hawks must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hawks gets to his feet. Mason looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Mason is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hawks uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mason has time to react. A slapping leg kick lands for Hawks.

Nice cross by Hawks. Hawks scores with a spinning back kick! Hawks keeps Mason at a distance using the push kick. Hawks throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Mason takes a shot to the body in his stride.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mason walks into a straight right hand from Hawks. Hawks rushes Mason and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Hawks escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Mason will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Mason takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Hawks shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mason as he avoids it easily. Hawks moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Hawks connects with a solid leg kick.

Hawks thumps Mason with a low kick. Mason takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Mason on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Hawks instigates a clinch. Hawks breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mason takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hawks lands with a kick to the temple. Mason shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Mason tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hawks sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mason somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Mason. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hawks throws a nice inside leg kick. Hawks lands a nice leg kick that just misses Mason's sensitive parts. Hawks lands a slapping body shot.
Mason drops his hands momentarily and Hawks takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Mason takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Hawks scores with a kick to the midsection. Mason seems to have got his legs back now. Hawks is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Mason had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Hawks rushes Mason and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Hawks pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hawks clinches with his opponent.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Crunch! Hawks slams his shin into Mason's torso. Hawks lands with an uppercut that bounces Mason off the cage and back into rage. Hawks drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Hawks with a flurry of punches that miss. Hawks postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Mason preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hawks scoring with some ground and pound. Hawks tries to stand but Mason is controlling from the bottom. Hawks tries to free his leg and advance position but Mason is retaining full guard. Hawks working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Hawks with a flurry of punches that miss. Hawks is in close to Mason's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hawks wants to get up but he can't break Mason's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hawks landing with the ground and pound. Hawks makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Mason wants to sweep but no luck. Mason preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hawks wants to stand but Mason is controlling his posture from full guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hawks postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Mason is working an open guard so Hawks takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jon Hawks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Jon Hawks is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hawks landing strikes from the mount and Mason is in trouble! Hawks raining down shots from the mount! Hawks is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mason can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mason is bucking up trying to escape but Hawks cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mason is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Hawks has control of Mason's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mason regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Mason can't escape the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Jon Hawks comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Hawks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
