PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fisty Fight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paq Yu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fight is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Fisty Fight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paq Yu!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yu closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fight to the mat! Fight manages to get full guard.
Fight is breathing heavily.
Yu is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Yu postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Yu gets to his feet. Fight looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Yu is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fight's half guard.
Fight trying to control from the bottom.
Yu is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Yu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Yu passes to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yu decides to stand back up.

Yu clinches up with Fight and pushes him back against the cage.

Yu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Yu fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Yu tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fight sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Yu somewhat.

Yu has managed to clinch.

Yu is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Yu pulls Fight into guard.
Yu controlling Fight's posture.
Yu's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Fight wants to get up but he can't break Yu's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Yu pushes Fight off and scrambles back to his feet.
Fight misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Yu takes the fight into the clinch.
Yu lands a body punch.
Yu effectively controlling the action here.

Yu lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Yu prevents Fight from improving his position.
Yu tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fight knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Yu misses with a head shot. Fight uses the momentum to regain guard.
Fight knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yu on the ground.
Fight not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Fight is looking to sweep but instead, Yu has passed into half guard.
Yu stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paq Yu dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Yu ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Yu no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Yu manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fight is working to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Fight tries to hold on but Yu postures up.
Yu looking to control and managing it successfully.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Yu cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Yu tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Yu lands a heavy elbow.
Fight keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Yu landing strikes, looking to finish!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Yu postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Fight looks a forlorn figure.
Yu looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paq Yu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Yu looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Yu swings for the body but Fight moves out of range.

Yu shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fight manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Paq Yu.
Fight defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Yu.
Yu shoots in looking for a takedown. Fight tries to sprawl out of it but Yu keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fight manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fisty Fight has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paq Yu.
Fight tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Yu counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Yu keeps control of Fight as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Yu wants a takedown but no success here.

Yu manages to break the clinch.
Yu misses with a low kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A cross from Fight lands.

Yu fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fight sprawls well initially but Yu persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Yu content to control rather than advance.
Yu wants to take a breather but Fight is having none of it.
Fight is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Yu not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yu seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fight does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Yu has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Fight defend it? Yu steps over the head and cranks it - Fight is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Yu!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Paq Yu!
