Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calzaghe throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Smecker.
Smecker keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Calzaghe throws a hook but Smecker blocks it.
Calzaghe looks to score with a jab to the body but Smecker is just out of range.
Smecker throws a left and a right that both miss
and Calzaghe cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like William Smecker has been cut.
Smecker looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smecker looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Calzaghe is holding on to half guard well.
Smecker is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Calzaghe doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smecker.

Calzaghe tries to get to full guard but Smecker has control of the leg.

Smecker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smecker looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Smecker will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Calzaghe throws a right hand that Smecker ducks under and follows up with a left that Smecker also avoids with ease.

That has opened up William Smecker's cut even more.
Calzaghe throws a jab when Smecker was well out of range.
Calzaghe lands a really nice looking cross but Smecker seems unphased.
Smecker takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Author Calzaghe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Calzaghe bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Smecker's head backwards.
Author Calzaghe is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Calzaghe ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smecker moves away.
Calzaghe lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
The cut above William Smecker's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Smecker takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Calzaghe lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Smecker at a distance.
Calzaghe is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Calzaghe throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Smecker takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Smecker has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Calzaghe moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Smecker is rocked!
Calzaghe lands with a big right hook that stumbles Smecker - he's out on his feet here! Calzaghe follows up with another monster hook that separates Smecker from consciousness! Smecker falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Calzaghe stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
