Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trev Ringland! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Alyssa Summers and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ringland shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts James as he jumps to the side. James throws a nice looking combination but Ringland bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ringland wants to clinch up but James keeps it at a distance. James misses the shot to the body. James fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Ringland fails with an attempt to clinch.

Nice takedown defense from James. No joy for Ringland on that attempt. James missing with a left hand there. Ringland was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. James connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Ringland closes the distance and clinches up with James, looking for a takedown. Ringland pushes James against the cage but James circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ron James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trev Ringland. Ringland tries to score a power double leg takedown but James sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ringland somewhat. Ringland fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

James shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ringland manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Ringland has his foot on James's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. James works his way back into a safe position though. Ringland looks gassed! James passes into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ringland is refusing to be controlled, as James sits in half guard. James will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. James is nestled in close to Ringland, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. James lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Ringland won't allow James to pass to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James works his way into full mount! James throws some wild stikes that Ringland manages to avoid easily.
Poor strikes thrown by James there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
James fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
James thowing shots but they're missing. James with a couple of short strikes. Ringland tries to lock up and control but James gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ringland can do anything to dispel that myth. James wants to control the pace but Ringland is squirming around nicely. James throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. James looking to control but Ringland is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Ringland tries to hold on but James postures up. Ringland is desperately trying to improve his position but James has a good base and remains in mount. A nice elbow there by James. James trying to control but Ringland is having none of it. Ringland takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. That's four minutes gone in the round. James with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. James with shots to the head and body - Ringland looks very uncomfortable down there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ron James dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
James blocks a jab. Ron James is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. James shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Good shot there by James. Nice sprawl there from James as Ringland shoots in. Ringland looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. James tries to bum rush Ringland with a series of wild strikes but Ringland uses good footwork to avoid the assault. James swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
James throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
James blocks a jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ringland tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but James paws at him with a jab and circles away. James throws a leg kick that misses. Ringland avoids the body shot from James.

That's one minute gone in the round. James throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Ringland shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with James but James pushes him off and we're back to square one. A telegraphed takedown attempt from James is defended easily by Ringland. Ringland uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from James. James thows a left - swing and a miss! Ringland changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Ringland manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Ron James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trev Ringland. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. James leaves Ringland with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. James fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. James keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
James lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. James uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Ringland gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and James counters with a stiff right hand. Ringland avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round. James gets a takedown into half guard. James throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. James throwing shots but Ringland is blocking nicely. James postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ringland to stand up. Ringland darts in trying to clinch and James counters with a series of strikes. Ringland will be more careful next time no doubt. James is looking to clinch but Ringland is avoiding it.
James lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. James is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. James connects with a jab. James looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
James throws a combination. Ringland tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Ringland fails to land the takedown. James takes a swing at Ringland's ribcage but misses. Nice cross by James. Ringland keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ringland tries for a takedown but James sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Ringland shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ron James dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Ringland looks to clinch enabling James to counter with a crisp jab. Ringland drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. James misses the shot to the body. Ringland darts in trying to clinch and James counters with a left to the body. Ringland pulls out of a head kick attempt.
James shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than James was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! James throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Ron James overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. James landing punches. Ringland takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. James throws some wild stikes that Ringland manages to avoid easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ringland accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. James looking to sweep here. No luck so far. James controls Ringland momentarily but Ringland frees himself. Ringland trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. James is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ringland looking to sit in guard and control but James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. James got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ringland has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, James has managed to get both his arms back between Ringland's legs - danger averted.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Ringland closes this distance looking for a takedown but James circles away. James drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Ringland! James pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ringland is surviving well by controlling James's body position as best he can. James looking to control but Ringland is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Ron James is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Ringland is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. James throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. James looking to control and managing it successfully. And that's the end of the fight! Ron James showed his dominance in that final round. Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
