Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aron Moraes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Gilmore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aron Moraes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Gilmore! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moraes closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Moraes lands in his opponent's guard. Moraes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Gilmore is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gilmore working for a triangle but Moraes defends it easily.
Gilmore not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Moraes tries to free his leg and advance position but Gilmore is retaining full guard. Gilmore looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Moraes trying to control the position from guard on top but Gilmore is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Moraes wants to get up but he can't break Gilmore's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Moraes landing with the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moraes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gilmore swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Moraes avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gilmore has his foot on Moraes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Moraes works his way back into a safe position though. Moraes tries to stand but Gilmore is controlling from the bottom. Gilmore looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gilmore looks gassed! Moraes trying to control the position from guard on top but Gilmore is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Moraes tries to stand but Gilmore is controlling from the bottom. Gilmore wants to sweep here but Moraes controlling him for the moment. Moraes decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gilmore, up you get!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gilmore circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gilmore is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Moraes tries to clinch but Gilmore is having none of it. Gilmore throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Gilmore tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Moraes paws at him with a jab and circles away. Gilmore swats away the attempt to clinch by Moraes. Moraes wants to clinch. Moraes gets in close and instigates a clinch. Gilmore trying to land knees to the body.
Gilmore wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Moraes has him pressed against the cage. Gilmore tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Moraes's elbow. Moraes leaning against his opponent.
Gilmore scores with a nice hook to the head. Moraes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Moraes has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Gilmore finds it's way round the side to connect with Moraes's head. Moraes throws a leg kick but Gilmore sees it coming and checks it nicely. Moraes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gilmore circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gilmore has taken the fight to the clinch.
Gilmore wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Moraes has him pressed against the cage. Moraes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Moraes clinches but Gilmore breaks the clinch and Gilmore counters with a nice body shot. Moraes tries a head kick but it misses.
Moraes wants to clinch but Gilmore slips to the side and Gilmore counters with a single leg into guard. Moraes didn't expect that. Gilmore trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gilmore is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Gilmore trying to control the position from guard on top but Moraes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gilmore pushes down on Moraes's leg and manages to get into half guard. Gilmore decides to stand and escape the position. Moraes works over Gilmore's head and body with a nice combination.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gilmore throws a right and a left that Moraes avoids nicely. Moraes has closed the distance and engaged Gilmore in a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Moraes throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Gilmore is working for takedown but Moraes is calmly controlling the position for now. Moraes lands with a short shot to the head. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Gilmore pushes Moraes back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Moraes ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Moraes no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Gilmore tries to free his leg and advance position but Moraes is retaining full guard. Gilmore is pushing down on Moraes's leg trying to pass to half guard. Moraes is fighting to maintain full guard but Gilmore has managed to sneak the leg through. Gilmore wants to pass the guard but Moraes is defending well. Gilmore prevents Moraes from improving his position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Moraes trying to control here.
Gilmore is pressing down on Moraes's thigh, looking to free his foot. Moraes is holding on for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Chris Gilmore will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Moraes fails to land with a series of punches.
Moraes throws a combination that misses and Gilmore counters with a stiff right hand. Moraes clinches. Moraes manages to break the clinch.
Moraes looks to clinch and Gilmore counters with a takedown into side control. Moraes tries to bench press Gilmore off him but Gilmore keeps the position. Gilmore goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Moraes rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Gilmore's guard! Nice work there by Moraes! Gilmore looking for a sweep. Not yet Gilmore, not yet. Gilmore isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Moraes stacks Gilmore on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Moraes! Moraes is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Gilmore looks calm but he's in trouble here. Moraes gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Gilmore is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Moraes lets go of the hold and Gilmore can pop his arm back in it's socket.
