PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brad Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Nevsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brad Connor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Nevsky!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Vladimir Khabensky and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nevsky pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nevsky stalks Connor and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Connor's face. Connor staggers backwards, shaken.

Nevsky closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nevsky lands in his opponent's guard.

Connor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nevsky gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Connor had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nevsky defends it easily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nevsky is looking to advance position but Connor won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Nevsky dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Nevsky decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Connor is looking for a sweep. Nevsky is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Connor throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nevsky sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nevsky will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Well Nevsky has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
