PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andrei Bogdanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Goolara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrew Goolara is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrei Bogdanov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrew Goolara!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goolara shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bogdanov as he jumps to the side.
Bogdanov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Goolara displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bogdanov.
Bogdanov wants to clinch up but Goolara keeps it at a distance.
Bogdanov fails with a takedown attempt.

Bogdanov shoots in and bounces Goolara off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bogdanov thows a big elbow that misses.
Bogdanov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Goolara swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bogdanov wants to control from the top but Goolara keeps moving.

Bogdanov is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Goolara is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Goolara has escaped and now he's on top!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Goolara not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Bogdanov is controlling Goolara's posture.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bogdanov has a closed guard, preventing Goolara from standing up.
Goolara wants to control from the top but Bogdanov keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Goolara doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Bogdanov counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Bogdanov is breathing heavily.
Bogdanov wants to control from the top but Goolara keeps moving.

Bogdanov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Goolara on the ground.
Goolara is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Goolara tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Bogdanov.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrei Bogdanov dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Bogdanov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bogdanov is fighting to break Goolara's control of his arms but Goolara is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Goolara lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bogdanov!
Bogdanov can't escape the position.
Bogdanov is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Bogdanov tries to hold on but Goolara postures up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bogdanov is looking to improve his position but Goolara isn't that keen on the idea.
A nice elbow there by Goolara.
Bogdanov tries to reverse the position but Goolara maintains control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Goolara lands a big shot there that rocks Bogdanov but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Bogdanov is desperately trying to improve his position but Goolara has a good base and remains in mount.

Goolara looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Bogdanov in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Bogdanov tries to lock up and control but Goolara gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Goolara trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Goolara lands a nice shot to the head.

Goolara with the ground and pound from mount.
Goolara takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Bogdanov really wants to buck Goolara off and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew Goolara showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Bogdanov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bogdanov throws a strike aimed at the side of Goolara's head but Goolara avoids it well.
Goolara sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Goolara is looking to control Bogdanov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Goolara avoid being mounted?

Bogdanov is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Goolara sees it coming and defends easily.
Goolara misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Bogdanov sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Goolara defending well though.
Bogdanov stops Goolara from getting back to his feet.
Goolara is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bogdanov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bogdanov's back!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Goolara has good solid back control here.

Goolara looking for the choke but no joy.
Bogdanov is keeping busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Goolara is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Goolara gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Goolara gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Goolara apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Goolara closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Goolara lands in his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bogdanov is looking to stand up but Goolara isn't so interested in that idea.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Andrew Goolara comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Goolara has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
