PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Archer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Rejo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rejo has chosen Let me hear you SCREAM as his entrance music. Brock Archer had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 206.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Brock Archer has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brock Archer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Rejo!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Archer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rejo.
Archer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rejo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Brock Archer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Rejo.
Archer takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Rejo lands a right hook to the body.

Archer closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rejo did well to prevent Archer getting side control.

Archer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rejo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Archer fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Archer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rejo's guard.
Rejo looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Archer puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Rejo tries to roll over but Archer keeps him under control.
Rejo is staying active underneath Archer, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Rejo is looking for a kimura but Archer is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rejo to get the leverage.

Rejo is pressing down on Archer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Archer is holding on for now.

Rejo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Archer is trying to control but can't.

Rejo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rejo passes to full mount!

Rejo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Archer can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Rejo with shots to the head and body - Archer looks very uncomfortable down there.

Rejo has hold of Archer's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Archer manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Archer counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Archer.

Archer is trying to trip Rejo. He has hold of a leg but Rejo is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Archer persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rejo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Archer!

Rejo is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Archer is surviving well by controlling Rejo's body position as best he can.

Rejo jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Archer is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Archer and Rejo has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Rejo swings around for an armbar but Archer sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rejo's guard.

Rejo manages to work his way to half guard, despite Archer's best efforts.

Rejo wants to improve his position but Archer is controlling well.
Archer is looking to take a break and control but Rejo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rejo regains full guard. Nicely done.

Rejo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Archer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Archer is sitting in close to Rejo's body. Rejo has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Archer is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Archer is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Rejo.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jake Rejo!
