The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kilmister wants to clinch up but Cruz keeps it at a distance.
Kilmister is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kilmister fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kilmister tries to bum rush Cruz with a series of wild strikes but Cruz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kilmister staying out of range there.
Cruz misses with a straight left.
Cruz throws a series of punches but Kilmister moves out of range.
Blackie Kilmister seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cruz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kilmister sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kilmister throws a combination that misses
and Cruz counters with a straight right hand.
Kilmister tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Kilmister takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Cruz misses with a body shot.
Kilmister tries to clinch there but Cruz circles away.

Cruz avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A nice inside leg kick there by Kilmister. That's going to slow Cruz down.
Cruz throws a jab but it's blocked by Kilmister.
Kilmister wants to clinch but Cruz slips to the side
and Cruz counters with a stiff right hand.

Kilmister is still on wobbly legs! Can Cruz finish him?

Cruz waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Kilmister. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Kilmister to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
Cruz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kilmister can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cruz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kilmister swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kilmister controls Cruz momentarily but Cruz frees himself.
Kilmister seems to have recovered his senses.
Kilmister working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cruz.

Cruz has gone for a leg lock! Kilmister slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cruz's guard.
Cruz keeping moving, preventing Kilmister from controlling successfully.
Cruz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kilmister must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Cruz is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Kilmister has his hands clasped together but Cruz extends an breaks Kilmister's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Cruz.
