PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lylan Mitchikin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drago Ivan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mitchikin might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Enter Sandman by Metallica. Drago Ivan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lylan Mitchikin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Drago Ivan!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ivan tries for a takedown but Mitchikin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ivan is looking to land body kicks.
Ivan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mitchikin defends it nicely.
Ivan shoots for a double leg takedown but Mitchikin sprawls well. He's pushed Ivan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lylan Mitchikin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Drago Ivan.
Ivan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Well, if Mitchikin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Mitchikin decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

and Ivan counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Mitchikin pulls Ivan in close to his closed guard and prevents Ivan from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Lylan Mitchikin.

Ivan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Ivan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mitchikin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Mitchikin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Mitchikin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ivan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mitchikin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Ivan tries to hold on but Mitchikin pushes him away.

Mitchikin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ivan for as long as he can get away with.
Drago Ivan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mitchikin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
