Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nate Knuckles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Herb Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Knuckles comes to the cage accompanied by When I'm Gone. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nate Knuckles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Herb Dean!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knuckles moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Knuckles lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Knuckles sizes up Dean with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Dean thows a left - swing and a miss!
Knuckles lands with a cross.
Dean throws a left and a right that both miss
and Knuckles counters by clinching up.
Dean has Knuckles pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Knuckles manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Knuckles wants a takedown but no success here.
Knuckles gets control of Dean's arms and successfully pulls guard. Knuckles will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Dean wants to stand and escape but instead Knuckles has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Knuckles swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Dean.

and Knuckles counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Dean throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Knuckles lands a slapping body shot.
Knuckles misses with a wild combination.
Knuckles clinches up against the cage.
Knuckles is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Dean gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Knuckles has Dean pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dean manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nate Knuckles. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Knuckles fails to pull guard.
Knuckles tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Dean just stands there and leans against the cage.
Knuckles lands a hook that snaps the head of Dean backwards.
Knuckles is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Knuckles stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Dean's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dean really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Knuckles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Knuckles bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dean's guard.
Dean wants to stand up but Knuckles is controlling him.

Knuckles is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Dean controls Knuckles momentarily but Knuckles frees himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Knuckles trying to control the position from guard on top but Dean is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dean looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Dean slaps away a takedown attempt from Knuckles, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Knuckles connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Dean momentarily.
Dean lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Dean.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nate Knuckles dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A decent looking cross lands there for Knuckles.
Dean scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Knuckles lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

and Knuckles connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Knuckles scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Knuckles lands a jab to the head.
Knuckles scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dean takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Knuckles shoots for a double leg takedown but Dean sprawls well. He's pushed Knuckles's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Knuckles counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Knuckles cracks a nice hook into Dean's ribs.
Dean is breathing heavily.

Knuckles throws a combination that misses
and Dean counters with a three punch combo that has Knuckles backing up. Knuckles nods at Dean to acknowledge the strikes.

Nate Knuckles is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dean swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Dean takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Dean is rocked!
Knuckles throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Dean stumbling backwards into the cage! Dean bounces back off the cage towards Knuckles, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Knuckles lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Knuckles celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
