Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Flying Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Fighetti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flying Phoenix has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Flying Phoenix! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Fighetti! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phoenix is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fighetti's half guard. Phoenix is thwarting Fighetti's attempts to control the position. Phoenix is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Fighetti is trying desperately to improve position. Phoenix content just to control the position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fighetti is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Phoenix working for a submission but Fighetti is keeping him at bay. Phoenix tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Phoenix's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Fighetti is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Phoenix controlling the pace for now. Fighetti really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Phoenix. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Phoenix with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Flying Phoenix dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Phoenix drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Phoenix doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. The crowd cheers as Fighetti lands an impressive looking overhand right. Phoenix doesn't seem phased though. Fighetti throws a hook but Phoenix avoids it easily. Phoenix throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fighetti's waist but Fighetti gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Phoenix off to one side. Fighetti lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Phoenix takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Nice jab there from Fighetti. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Fighetti, as that shot connected.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Phoenix shoots in and drives through. Fighetti sprawls well. Phoenix takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Phoenix darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Phoenix uses his free foot to push down on Fighetti's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fighetti.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phoenix tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Phoenix working away from the top, dropping strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Fighetti stops Phoenix from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Phoenix controlling from mount. Phoenix scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Fighetti?

That's three minutes gone in the round. Fighetti is breathing heavily. Phoenix seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Fighetti is holding on tight.
Phoenix content just to control the position here. Phoenix postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Fighetti looks a forlorn figure.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Phoenix looking to control and managing it successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Flying Phoenix dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Fighetti moves out of range as Phoenix strikes. A cross from Fighetti lands. Phoenix shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Fighetti defends it nicely. Paul Fighetti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fighetti cracks Phoenix with an open hand slap. Fighetti misses with an uppercut. Phoenix saw that one coming. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Phoenix is defended easily by Fighetti. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Phoenix ducks right into an uppercut from Fighetti. Phoenix fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Flying Phoenix. That's going to take a lot out of him. A jab from Fighetti does it's job there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fighetti misses with an uppercut. Fighetti slaps away a takedown attempt from Phoenix, before circling back to the center of the mat. Fighetti closes the distance and lands a one-two. Fighetti throws out a powerful jab. Paul Fighetti is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Phoenix looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Fighetti takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Phoenix is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Fighetti pulls Phoenix in close to prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Phoenix is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Flying Phoenix. Phoenix tries for a takedown but Fighetti sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Phoenix looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Fighetti! Phoenix has control of Fighetti's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Fighetti regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Phoenix works his way to his opponent's back.
Paul Fighetti has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Phoenix biding his time, controlling Fighetti. Phoenix seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fighetti for as long as he can get away with.
And that's the end of the fight! Flying Phoenix showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Phoenix, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
