The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee takes a swing at Penn's ribcage but misses. Lee tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Penn was well out of range. Poor timing from Lee. Mister Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lee misses with an uppercut. Nice shot lands for Lee. Lee throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Penn sees it coming and avoids it easily. Lee throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Penn darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Penn missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Penn is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lee doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Penn. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lee can do anything to dispel that myth. Penn throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lee sees it coming and defends easily. Penn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lee is defending against the submission attempts here by Penn.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Penn in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Lee tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Penn!
