Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frederick Fonglebang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rickson Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fonglebang's entrance music is Bidibodi Bidibu. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frederick Fonglebang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie walks into a left hand.
Fonglebang shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gracie as he avoids it easily.
No joy there for Gracie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Fonglebang tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gracie was well out of range. Poor timing from Fonglebang.
Horrible takedown by Gracie or perhaps it was just good defense by Fonglebang which made him look bad.
Fonglebang throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gracie.
Fonglebang keeps the fight on the outside.
Gracie lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Fonglebang missing with a left hand there. Gracie was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Gracie moves out of range as Fonglebang strikes.
Fonglebang tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gracie was well out of range. Poor timing from Fonglebang.
Fonglebang throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gracie sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Fonglebang throws a right and a left that both miss.
Fonglebang lands a two punch combo.
Gracie lands a lovely overhand right.
Fonglebang throws a body punch but Gracie moves out of range.
Fonglebang throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gracie stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Frederick Fonglebang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fonglebang throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Fonglebang shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fonglebang showed some decent athleticism there.

Gracie regains full guard. Nicely done.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fonglebang accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Fonglebang is looking to advance position but Gracie has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Fonglebang slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fonglebang tries to get to full guard but Gracie has control of the leg.

Gracie prevents Fonglebang from improving his position.

Fonglebang wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Gracie throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Fonglebang is trying to maintain the position but Gracie is very close to passing his half guard.
Gracie working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Fonglebang's thigh. Fonglebang counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Fonglebang is looking for a sweep. Gracie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gracie tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fonglebang knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fonglebang is trying to get back to full guard.
Gracie wants to pass to mount but Fonglebang is defending the position.
Gracie looks to land a strike but Fonglebang avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Fonglebang looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gracie throws a lazy right hand but Fonglebang sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Fonglebang fails with the takedown
and Gracie counters with a left to the body.

Gracie uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Fonglebang.

Gracie gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Fonglebang to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Fonglebang tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gracie knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Fonglebang lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Fonglebang throwing shots but Gracie is blocking nicely.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Fonglebang lands a nice short elbow.
Fonglebang wants to control but Gracie is keeping him busy.
Fonglebang has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Fonglebang with the ground and pound from mount.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fonglebang connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Fonglebang fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Fonglebang lands with some strikes.
Fonglebang scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Gracie?
Fonglebang is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gracie can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Fonglebang postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Gracie in real trouble here! The ref calls for Gracie to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
