PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cain Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terrell Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mir might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Go Ninja- Vanilla Ice. Cain Mir has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cain Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Terrell Turner!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Russell Pearce and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Turner forces Mir back against the cage and clinches.
Mir swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Turner manages to break the clinch.

Turner moves into the clinch successfully.

Turner breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice takedown defense from Turner. No joy for Mir on that attempt.
Mir looks for a takedown but Turner sprawls well.
Nice sprawl there from Turner as Mir shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cain Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mir wants to clinch but Turner slips to the side

and Turner counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Mir has momentary wrist control but Turner slips an elbow through the middle.


Mir is rocked!
Turner stopping the sweep attempt from Mir.
Mir is trying to control the position but Turner postures up.
Turner trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Turner won't allow Mir to sweep him here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Mir has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Turner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Turner postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Mir manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Mir avoids the attempt from Turner to control.
Turner swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Mir wants to control the pace but Turner is squirming around nicely.

Mir swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Turner is now in Mir's guard. A big mistake from Mir there, giving up the dominant position!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mir lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Turner!
Mir wants to take Turner's back here but Turner is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Turner slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Mir trying to mount his opponent but Turner defends it.

Mir wants to work for an arm triangle but Turner is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Turner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Mir is pressing down on Turner's thigh, looking to free his foot. Turner is holding on for now.
Turner is trying to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mir trying to control from Turner's half guard. Turner has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Turner trying to keep a closed guard but Mir is proving a slippery customer.
Turner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mir trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mir closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mir lands in his opponent's guard.
Turner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mir is one step ahead there.
Turner is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mir looking to sit in guard and control but Turner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mir has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Turner has passed into side control.
Turner working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Turner is working Mir over with some ground and pound from side control.
Mir tries to bench press Turner off him but Turner keeps the position.
Mir is trying to strike from the bottom but Turner has passed into full mount.
Mir keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Terrell Turner dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Mir tries for a takedown but Turner circles away easily
and Turner counters with a massive head kick! KABOOM! Mir is out cold! A devastating KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Terrell Turner!
