Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mahal works the jab nicely. Mahal tries to move into range but Howlett moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Howlett tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mahal was well out of range. Poor timing from Howlett. Howlett just misses with a punch to the body.
Mahal uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Howlett. Howlett tries to close the distance and clinch but Mahal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mahal throws a jab but it's blocked by Howlett. Mahal on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Howlett. Howlett obviously looking to wear him down.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Howlett checks a leg kick. Howlett clinches. Howlett breaks from the clinch.
Mahal on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. James Howlett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Howlett swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Howlett throws a right and a left that both miss. Mahal lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
That's one minute gone in the round. Howlett avoids the body shot from Mahal.
Mahal moves forwards but Howlett connects with a nice, crisp jab. James Howlett is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Howlett tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Howlett ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mahal moves away. Howlett looks to score with a jab to the body but Mahal is just out of range. Howlett throws a hook to the side of Mahal's head but Mahal sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Mahal closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Mahal tries to pull guard but Howlett won't allow it.
Mahal tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Howlett wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Mahal has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Howlett digs a right hand underneath Mahal's ribcage. Mahal let out a lung full of air as it connected. Mahal manages to break the clinch.
Howlett misses with a wild body shot. Howlett gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Howlett is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Mahal trying to control the position from guard on top but Howlett is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Howlett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mahal can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mahal thows a big elbow that misses. Mahal has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Howlett bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mahal's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mahal throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Howlett is looking to stand up but Mahal won't let him. Howlett postures up.
Mahal keeping moving, preventing Howlett from controlling successfully. Mahal looking for a guillotine here but Howlett defends easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mahal working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Howlett.

Mahal is trying to control the position but Howlett postures up. Mahal is breathing heavily. Howlett avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Howlett passes Mahal's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Howlett is trying to control the action in half guard but Mahal is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Howlett maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Mahal could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Howlett has cracked it and Mahal is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Howlett!
