Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis comes into the arena with Deftones - Beware blaring out of the sound system. Head has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. On his way into the cage it seems that Mickey Davis has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mickey Davis seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mickey Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Anthony Head!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Head misses with a jab, cross combination.
Davis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Head shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Davis as he avoids it easily.
Davis slips a jab and a cross from Head.
Head looks gassed!
Davis moves into range and clinches up with Head.
Davis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Davis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Davis throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Davis is on top in guard.
Davis decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Davis moves into the clinch successfully.

Davis is working for takedown but Head is calmly controlling the position for now.
Davis tries to land knees in the clinch but Head avoids the damage to the body.
Head breaks from the clinch.
Davis scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Davis looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Davis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Head is trying to stand.
Head won't allow Davis to pass to mount.
Davis is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis decides to stand and escape the position.
Davis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Head is holding on to half guard well.
Head moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Davis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Head misses with a combination
and Davis counters with a single leg into guard. Head didn't expect that.

Head wants to stand up but Davis is controlling him.

Davis wants to stand but Head has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Head wants to get back to his feet but Davis is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fight stays on the outside here - Davis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Davis.
Davis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Head knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
An elbow from Davis crashes against the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Head is not content to let Davis control the position.
The referee asks Davis politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Davis prefers to stall for the moment though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Head feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Davis shoots in looking for a takedown. Head tries to sprawl out of it but Davis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Head manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Davis moves into the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Head manages to break the clinch.
Head scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Davis is trying to get back to half guard.
Davis sneaks back into half guard.
Davis manages to get to full guard.
Davis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mickey Davis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Davis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Head's guard.
Head wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Davis is now in half guard.
Davis controlling the action here.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Davis connects with a nice short shot to Head's temple.
Davis uses his free foot to push down on Head's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Head.
Head wants to control but Davis is having none of it.
Head is trying to escape the mount.
Davis connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Davis fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Head tries to lock up and control but Davis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Head reaches up to try and control the position but Davis seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Head rolls and tries to escape and now Davis has his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davis is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Davis gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Davis gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Davis apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Davis shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Head wants to control but Davis passes into side.

Davis stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Head misses with an uppercut. Davis saw that one coming.
Davis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Davis keeps control of Head as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Davis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Head smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mickey Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Davis buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Davis drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Davis has an Americana. Head didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Davis is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Davis hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
