Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Sokolov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenneth Vedhult (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vedhult has chosen Six feet under - War is coming as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Sokolov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kenneth Vedhult! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vedhult misses with a straight left. Sokolov moves away from the strike by Vedhult. Sokolov moves forwards but Vedhult connects with a nice, crisp jab.
It looks like Vladimir Sokolov has been cut. Sokolov staying out of range there. Vedhult looks to land a combination but Sokolov avoids it well. Sokolov is looking to clinch but Vedhult is avoiding it.
Sokolov misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Sokolov bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Sokolov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vedhult is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Sokolov taking a breather here. Vedhult is trying to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sokolov tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Vedhult struggling a bit here. Vedhult is not content to let Sokolov control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Vedhult can't do much from the bottom here. Vedhult is trying to get back to half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Vedhult throws a hook but Sokolov blocks it. Sokolov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vedhult's waist but Vedhult gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sokolov off to one side. Vedhult closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sokolov to the mat! Sokolov manages to get full guard. Vedhult looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vedhult wants to control from the top but Sokolov keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sokolov wants to sweep but no luck. Sokolov is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Vedhult content to stall in guard here. Vedhult looks gassed! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sokolov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Sokolov pulls Vedhult in close to his closed guard and prevents Vedhult from doing any damage or advancing position. Sokolov working a defensive guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kenneth Vedhult dominated that round. The cut man is working on Vladimir Sokolov's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Vedhult shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Sokolov counters with a thumping low kick. Vedhult gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Sokolov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vedhult won't be happy with that. Sokolov moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Sokolov seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vedhult for as long as he can get away with. Sokolov tries for a kimura but Vedhult is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sokolov working away. Vedhult is breathing heavily. Sokolov stands up. Sokolov misses with a two punch combination.
Sokolov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vedhult as he avoids it easily. Vedhult throws an overhand right that lands on Sokolov's shoulder, as Sokolov tries to avoid the shot. Vedhult shoots and misses and Sokolov counters with a single leg into guard. Vedhult didn't expect that. Vladimir Sokolov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenneth Vedhult. Sokolov chips away with some ground and pound. Sokolov stands and throws Vedhult's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sokolov wants to control but Vedhult is keeping him busy. Vedhult regains half guard. Vedhult slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Vedhult wants to sweep but no luck. Vedhult controlling Sokolov's posture. Sokolov preventing the sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vedhult pulls Sokolov in close to his closed guard and prevents Sokolov from doing any damage or advancing position. Sokolov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Vedhult is keeping the position for now. Sokolov wants to control from the top but Vedhult keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Vedhult wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Vedhult looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Vedhult is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Vedhult is looking to sweep but instead, Sokolov has passed into half guard.
Sokolov wants to free his trapped foot but Vedhult is holding on for dear life with his legs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vladimir Sokolov dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Vladimir Sokolov's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Vedhult misses with a double jab
and Sokolov counters by clinching up. Vedhult fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Sokolov has had enough of the clinch but Vedhult keeps him there for the moment. Vedhult is trying to stall.
Sokolov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Vedhult throws a lazy uppercut
and Sokolov moves into the clinch. Sokolov is trying to break free. Vedhult stops a takedown attempt from Sokolov.
Sokolov tries to pull guard but Vedhult holds him up against the cage and eventually Sokolov drops back down to his feet.
Sokolov tries to stall but Vedhult uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Sokolov wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Vedhult blocks the elbow strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sokolov tries to land knees in the clinch but Vedhult avoids the damage to the body. Sokolov fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vladimir Sokolov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sokolov gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Vedhult.
Vedhult is trying to break free. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Vedhult takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Vedhult on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Sokolov tries to pull guard but Vedhult holds him up against the cage and eventually Sokolov drops back down to his feet.
Sokolov ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sokolov no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Vedhult won't allow Sokolov to sweep him here. Sokolov trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Vedhult content to stall in guard here. Sokolov has his foot on Vedhult's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vedhult works his way back into a safe position though. Sokolov is trying to control the position but Vedhult postures up. Vedhult tries to stand but Sokolov is controlling from the bottom. Vedhult looking to pass the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vedhult controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Sokolov shoots and misses so Vedhult counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sokolov holds on and takes a little breather. Vedhult looking to sit in guard and control but Sokolov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sokolov wants to stand but Vedhult has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Sokolov trying to control the position from guard on top but Vedhult is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Vladimir Sokolov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Vedhult trying to strike off his back.
And that's the end of the fight! Kenneth Vedhult comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Vedhult has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
