PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Billy Bobberson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Pembelton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pembelton has chosen Hail Mary by Tupac as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Bobberson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Pembelton!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Lou da Vinci and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bobberson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pembelton sees it coming and avoids it easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Pembelton.
Bobberson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Pembelton counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bobberson won't be happy with that.

Pembelton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Pembelton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bobberson keeps working.

Pembelton is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bobberson has escaped the position, nice work there.
Bobberson has one of Pembelton's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Bobberson is not content to let Pembelton control the position.

Bobberson tries to bench press Pembelton off him but Pembelton keeps the position.

Pembelton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bobberson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bobberson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Pembelton stuffs the takedown.
Bobberson fails to land the takedown.

Bobberson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Bobberson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Pembelton stacks Bobberson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Pembelton!

Bobberson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Bobberson is looking for a sweep. Pembelton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pembelton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bobberson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pembelton is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bobberson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bobberson has escaped and now he's on top!

Bobberson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pembelton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bobberson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bobberson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Bobberson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pembelton is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bobberson, into his guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Billy Bobberson will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Pembelton looks to land a left hand but Bobberson moved out of range nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pembelton looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Bobberson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Bobberson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pembelton is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bobberson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bobberson's back!
