Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trevor Woodie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cody Cahill! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Columbo Gatti and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Woodie drives through with a takedown into guard. Woodie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cahill has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Woodie has managed to get both his arms back between Cahill's legs - danger averted. Woodie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cahill works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Woodie is fighting to break Cahill's control of his arms but Cahill is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Cahill throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Cahill keeping moving, preventing Woodie from controlling successfully. Cahill looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Woodie trying to control but Cahill is working from the bottom. Cahill has a closed guard, preventing Woodie from standing up. Cahill is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round. Woodie in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Woodie avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Woodie drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cahill dives on top into guard. Cahill looking to pass the guard. Cahill wants to control from the top but Woodie keeps moving. Woodie keeping full guard, as Cahill tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Cahill preventing the sweep. Cahill is pushing down on Woodie's leg trying to pass to half guard. Woodie is fighting to maintain full guard but Cahill has managed to sneak the leg through. Cahill trying to control the action but Woodie is working from the bottom. Cahill trying to mount his opponent but Woodie defends it.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Cahill slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Cahill scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Woodie is breathing heavily. Cahill fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. A left and a right from Cahill both land. Nice combination. A punch combination from Cahill misses. Woodie slips a jab and a cross from Cahill.
The fight stays on the outside here - Woodie looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cahill throws a right and a left that Woodie avoids nicely. Trevor Woodie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cahill throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Cahill takes a swing at Woodie's ribcage but misses. Woodie slips a jab and a cross from Cahill.

Cahill digs a good body shot into Woodie's ribs. Woodie keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cahill throws a series of punches but Woodie avoids them all with ease.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cahill throws a series of punches but Woodie moves out of range. Woodie moves into the clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cahill jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Woodie walks away with a smile on his face. Cahill gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Cahill stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Woodie avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cahill swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Woodie looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Cahill keeping moving, preventing Woodie from controlling successfully. Woodie throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Cahill trying to keep a closed guard but Woodie is proving a slippery customer.
Cahill is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Woodie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Woodie showed some decent athleticism there. Cahill trying to control but Woodie postures up.
Cahill on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Woodie tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Cahill. Woodie wants to pass the guard but Cahill is defending well. Cahill is pressing down on Woodie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Cahill looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Cahill is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cahill had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Woodie defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woodie stands up from guard. Let's bang! Woodie takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Cahill lands a body shot.
Woodie drives through with a takedown into guard. Woodie trying to control the position from guard on top but Cahill is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Woodie has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Cahill to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Woodie is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Cahill pulls down on the head and he's put Woodie to sleep! This one is all over!
