2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ronnie DeMarino! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Calypso closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Calypso looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. DeMarino can't do much from the bottom here. DeMarino is trying to get back to half guard. Calypso tries to score with some ground and pound. DeMarino controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. DeMarino stops Calypso from passing to mount. DeMarino tries to bench press Calypso off him but Calypso keeps the position. DeMarino gets back to half guard. DeMarino is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. DeMarino moves out of range of the body kick from Calypso.
Calypso shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with DeMarino but DeMarino pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Calypso gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and DeMarino counters with a shoot takedown. Calypso fights it but they end up in guard. DeMarino postures up.
Calypso is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Calypso stops DeMarino from getting back to his feet.
DeMarino is trying to maintain the position but Calypso is very close to passing his half guard. Calypso is keen to just control but DeMarino is a slippery customer. Calypso thows a huge punch but DeMarino dodges it nicely.
Ronnie DeMarino has got the better of the ground game so far. DeMarino wants to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. DeMarino is breathing heavily. DeMarino blocking the ground and pound attempt from Calypso. DeMarino wants to control but Calypso is keeping busy and won't allow it. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Calypso in particular looking to stall.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Calypso trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. DeMarino lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Calypso! Calypso wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by DeMarino.

Calypso is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but DeMarino has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Calypso is trying to stick to DeMarino's back but DeMarino is turning into Calypso. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Calypso's guard. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. That's three minutes gone in the round. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. DeMarino connects with a nice short shot to Calypso's temple. Calypso avoiding damage under a succession of punches from DeMarino. Calypso is looking for a sweep. DeMarino is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. DeMarino trying to mount his opponent but Calypso defends it. Calypso gets full guard. DeMarino preventing the sweep. Calypso striking off his back but it's not causing DeMarino any problems. Calypso is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and DeMarino defends well. DeMarino cracks Calypso with a solid left hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. DeMarino with a flurry of punches that miss. DeMarino lands a couple of elbows. DeMarino trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Calypso wants to sweep but no luck. Calypso manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. DeMarino manages to get himself to full guard.
Calypso won't allow DeMarino to get back to his feet. Calypso looking to pass the guard. Calypso wants to control from the top but DeMarino keeps moving. Calypso postures up.
DeMarino bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Calypso's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Ronnie DeMarino comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well DeMarino has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
