The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shlemenko throws a nice looking combination but von Preussen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. von Preussen shoots in for a takedown but Shlemenko shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. von Preussen fails in his attempt to clinch. Shlemenko tries for a takedown but von Preussen circles away easily and von Preussen counters with a nice double leg into guard. von Preussen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shlemenko works some decent striking defense from the bottom. von Preussen stands up from guard. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. von Preussen doesn't succeed with the takedown and Shlemenko counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Shlemenko is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Shlemenko is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. von Preussen wants to control but instead Shlemenko manages to regain half guard. von Preussen winds up and cracks Shlemenko with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Shlemenko has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. von Preussen is working away from the top position though. von Preussen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. von Preussen seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
von Preussen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shlemenko on the ground. von Preussen sitting and controlling from the half guard. von Preussen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Shlemenko does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. von Preussen sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Shlemenko is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. von Preussen happy to just control the position for now.
