Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Ennis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thor Pe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Ennis has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Ennis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thor Pe!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Pe checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Pe looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Pe misses with a double jab.

Pe moves into the clinch.
Pe wants to break the clinch but can't.
Pe wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Ennis tries to break free but Pe pushes him back against the cage.
Ennis wants to break the clinch but can't.
Pe working hard to break the clinch.
Pe tries to break free but Ennis pushes him back against the cage.
Ennis tries to break the clinch but Pe is controlling the position.
Ennis is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Ennis tries to pull guard but Pe holds him up against the cage and eventually Ennis drops back down to his feet.
Pe is pressed up against the cage. Ennis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pe down to the mat. Pe avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ennis is defended easily by Pe.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Ennis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ennis throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Pe gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ennis to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Ennis prevents Pe from getting back to his feet.

Ennis passes Pe's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Ennis trying to pass the guard but Pe defending well.
Pe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ennis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ennis passes the guard and advances to mount!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Ennis lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Ennis is working for a guillotine from mount but Pe frees his head quite easily.
Pe in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Pe is in a horrible position here. Ennis smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Ennis looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Ennis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pe can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Ennis lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Ennis lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ennis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Pe looks a forlorn figure.
Ennis pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Ennis controlling from the full mount.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pe is squirming around, avoiding Ennis's attempts to control the action.
A nice elbow there by Ennis.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Ennis dominated that round.

Ennis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Ennis lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Pe hang on?

Ennis is working for a guillotine from mount but Pe frees his head quite easily.
Ennis sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Ennis breaks from Pe's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Ennis lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Pe hang on?

Pe is breathing heavily.

Ennis has control of Pe's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Pe regains control of the situation pretty easily.
James Ennis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Pe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ennis quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Ennis but it's paid off an Pe is forced to tap! Nice work by Ennis.
