PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ozzy Wagner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin comes to the cage accompanied by Feel Good Inc. Wagner is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Wake Up by Korn. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ozzy Wagner!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wagner connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Wagner throws out a loose jab but Griffin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wagner lands a high kick!
Some wild striking there from Wagner.
Griffin tries to clinch up.
A good leg kick by Wagner.
Wagner is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Griffin misses the shot to the body.
Wagner on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wagner lands a left and a right that sends Griffin crashing to the canvas! Wagner dives into mount looking to finish!


Griffin is rocked!
Wagner content just to control the position here.
Oh Griffin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Griffin is looking to improve his position but Wagner isn't that keen on the idea.
Griffin wants to hold on but Wagner pushes him away.
Griffin seems to have got his legs back now.

Wagner trying to control but Griffin is having none of it.

Wagner is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Griffin has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Griffin!
Griffin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Wagner is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Griffin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wagner is proving hard to escape from.
Wagner looking for a sweep. Not yet Wagner, not yet.

Wagner is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Griffin defends well.
Wagner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Griffin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Griffin tries to stand but Wagner is controlling from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wagner is trying to keep Griffin in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wagner wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Griffin is now in half guard.
Griffin looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Griffin misses with a double jab
and Wagner counters with a left to the body.
Griffin fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Griffin avoids the head kick by Wagner.
Griffin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Wagner throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Wagner scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Griffin misses with a double jab
and Wagner counters with a one-two to the body.
Griffin is breathing heavily.
Wagner swats away the attempt to clinch by Griffin.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Griffin throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting Wagner counter with a right hand.
Griffin misses with a combination
enabling Wagner to counter with a crisp jab.
Wagner is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Wagner stalks Griffin and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Griffin's face. Griffin staggers backwards, shaken.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ozzy Wagner dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Wagner! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ozzy Wagner!
