Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Matheuss throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Hughes on the side of the head.
Matheuss connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Hughes walks into a straight right hand from Matheuss.
Matheuss scores with a nice strike.
Hughes takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Matheuss lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
David Matheuss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Matheuss lands an overhand right.
Hughes misses with a wild combination.
Hughes drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Matheuss scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Matheuss tries a head kick but it misses.
Hughes fails to land with a series of punches.
Matheuss dips to his left and cracks Hughes with an uppercut!
Matheuss throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Hughes stumbling backwards into the cage! Hughes bounces back off the cage towards Matheuss, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Matheuss lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Matheuss celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). David Matheuss!
