PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Hass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ilan Rotberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hass kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ain't No Rest For the Wicked-Cage the Elephant. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rotberg misses with a jab, cross combination.
Horrible takedown by Hass or perhaps it was just good defense by Rotberg which made him look bad.
Rotberg throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rotberg moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

It looks like Jack Hass has been cut.
Rotberg buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Rotberg smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Hass tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rotberg paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rotberg fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hass avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hass checks a low kick from Rotberg.
Hass on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Rotberg lands a jab to the head.

Rotberg shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hass counters with a shoot takedown. Rotberg fights it but they end up in guard.

Rotberg is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hass accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hass is fighting to break Rotberg's control of his arms but Rotberg is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Rotberg tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rotberg bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hass's guard.
Hass wants to sweep but no luck.
Hass has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Rotberg has passed into side control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Can Hass hold on?! Rotberg is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hass tries to roll but Rotberg sticks to his back.

Hass manages to reverse the position and now he's in Rotberg's guard. Nice work there by Hass.
Rotberg is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rotberg is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hass is just riding it out for now. Rotberg eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hass wants to improve his position but Rotberg is controlling well.

Rotberg is pressing down on Hass's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hass is holding on for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hass uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rotberg.
Hass moves out of range as Rotberg strikes.

Hass misses with an uppercut. Rotberg saw that one coming.
Rotberg misses with a shot to the body

and Hass counters by moving into the clinch.
Rotberg wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hass has him pressed against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rotberg prevents a takedown attempt there.

Rotberg escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rotberg decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Rotberg is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hass is surviving well by controlling Rotberg's body position as best he can.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rotberg cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
