PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ray Machine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Louden Swain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machine comes into the arena with Stupid KId blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Swain's choice of entrance music: Foreigner . I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Ray Machine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Louden Swain!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Swain closes this distance looking for a takedown but Machine circles away.
Swain fails with an attempt to clinch.

Swain has taken the fight to the clinch.

Swain has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Machine is trying to keep an underhook but Swain manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Machine is trying to maintain the position but Swain is very close to passing his half guard.
Machine is looking to escape.
Machine moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Machine is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Swain stays in close to Machine's body and controls the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Swain won't allow Machine to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Swain thows a body shot but no joy.

Swain feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Machine is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Swain decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Machine, up you get!
Swain tries to clinch there but Machine circles away.
Louden Swain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Machine avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Machine tests Swain's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Some wild striking there from Swain.
Swain looks to score with a jab to the body but Machine is just out of range.

Machine shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Machine working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Machine wants to pass the guard but Swain is keeping the position.

Swain had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Machine defends it easily.
Machine trying to control but Swain is working from the bottom.

Swain is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Machine is aware though and is defending well.

Swain is looking for a triangle here but Machine uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

You can see the frustration on Swain's face as Machine controls the position.
Swain wants to control but Machine postures up.
Machine is looking to take a break and control but Swain is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Swain pushes Machine away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Machine gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Machine decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Swain's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ray Machine.

and Machine counters with a single leg into guard. Swain didn't expect that.
Swain is breathing heavily.
Swain is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Machine is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Swain is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Swain has escaped and now he's on top!

Machine looking to hit a scissor sweep but Swain is one step ahead there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Swain trying to control the position from guard on top but Machine is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Machine is working an open guard so Swain takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Swain gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Machine to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Swain looking for a sweep. Not yet Swain, not yet.

Machine looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Machine stops Swain from standing up.
Machine is pushing down on Swain's leg trying to pass to half guard. Swain is fighting to maintain full guard but Machine has managed to sneak the leg through.
Swain tries to roll over but Machine keeps him under control.
Machine is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Machine looking to control but Swain is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Swain really wants to buck Machine off and get back to his feet.
Machine connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Machine has hold of Swain's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Swain manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Machine with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Machine looking to control but Swain is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Swain tries to lock up and control but Machine gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Machine can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Swain is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Machine dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Swain tries to reverse the position but Machine maintains control.
Machine is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Swain is in real trouble.
Machine lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Machine struggling to keep hold of the position.

Swain is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Swain trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Machine working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Swain trying to control the hands but Machine breaks the grip.
I would not like to be Swain right now.

Machine is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Ray Machine overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Swain trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Swain is trying to get back to his feet but Machine has full control of the position and if anything, Swain has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Swain manages to reverse the position and now he's in Machine's guard. Nice work there by Swain.
Swain not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Machine has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Swain off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

and Machine counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Machine.
Swain is pulling down on Machine's head to control his posture.
Machine is looking to work some ground and pound but Swain has wrist control.

Swain is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Machine pulls his head out easily.
Swain wants to get back to his feet.
Machine works his foot free and advances to mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ray Machine showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Machine has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
