Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kimo Kanoa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ivan Ovechkin!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ovechkin throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kanoa.
Kanoa walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Ovechkin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Kanoa defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ovechkin.
Ovechkin on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Ovechkin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kanoa wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Ovechkin takes one on the button.
Kanoa with a hook.
Kanoa throws a leg kick but Ovechkin sees it coming and moves out of range.
Kanoa lands a nice shot that snaps Ovechkin's head back.
Kanoa throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Ovechkin throws a body punch but Kanoa moves out of range.
Kanoa thuds his right hand into Ovechkin's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Ovechkin takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Kanoa connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Ovechkin looks gassed!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ovechkin looks for a takedown but Kanoa sprawls well.
Kimo Kanoa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ivan Ovechkin.
Left hook, right uppercut from Kanoa.
Ovechkin seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Kanoa shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Ovechkin is backing up but Kanoa catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Ovechkin covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Kanoa Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kimo Kanoa!
