Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brain Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Geowanny Velasco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Brain Edwards has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Brain Edwards seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edwards fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Velasco, pushing him back against the cage.
Velasco is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Edwards gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Edwards goes for a takedown attempt but Velasco pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Velasco fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Edwards sprawls well initially but Velasco persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Velasco is looking to take a break and control but Edwards is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Velasco can do anything to dispel that myth.

Velasco really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Edwards. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

A looping hook to the body misses from Velasco. Edwards does a little dance to reset his feet.
Velasco shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Edwards sprawls well. Edwards wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Velasco gets slowly back to his feet.
