Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, bryce ahr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, chump masters! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! ahr feints and as masters raises his hands in defense, ahr changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. ahr tries to free his leg and advance position but masters is retaining full guard. ahr trying to control but masters is working from the bottom. ahr trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. ahr is stalling in the full guard. masters throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
masters has a closed guard, preventing ahr from standing up. ahr pushing down on masters's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. masters tries to roll over but ahr keeps him under control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with ahr in particular looking to stall. masters tries to get to full guard but ahr has control of the leg. masters works his way to full guard. Good work. ahr throws and elbow that misses. masters uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in ahr's guard. Nice move by masters! masters throwing strikes but missing. ahr trying to keep a closed guard but masters is proving a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. masters trying to control the position from guard on top but ahr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. masters looking to pass the guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. masters advances position into side control! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. masters tries to score with some ground and pound. ahr controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. ahr struggling a bit here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. ahr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. masters scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. ahr is breathing heavily. masters stops ahr from getting back to his feet.
masters thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed ahr's head. masters perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. masters seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but ahr does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. ahr is pressing down on masters's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. ahr looking to control.
masters with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. masters slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. masters moves into full mount! masters landing shots from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. masters can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as ahr is looking to escape. A nice elbow there by masters. ahr is looking to improve his position but masters isn't that keen on the idea. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, masters cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
chump masters dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Excellent takedown into side control there by ahr. masters is trying to get back to half guard. ahr trying to control the position but masters is working away. ahr working the head and body with strikes. ahr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for masters on the ground. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. masters is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. masters pushes ahr off and gets back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. masters misses with a takedown attempt and ahr counters with a shoot takedown. masters fights it but they end up in guard. masters wants to sweep but no luck. masters trying to control the position here. ahr has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. masters wants to sweep but no luck. ahr is looking to advance position but masters has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! masters has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of ahr's face.
masters wants to take ahr's back here but ahr is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. masters landing shots from mount. masters looking to control but ahr is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. masters goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now ahr is on top in guard.
masters keeping moving, preventing ahr from controlling successfully. ahr is looking to work some ground and pound but masters has wrist control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. masters wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and ahr manages to pass to side control. ahr missing with the ground and pound from half guard. bryce ahr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. ahr stands up from half guard. ahr gets the takedown into side control. masters explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
That's four minutes gone in the round. ahr throws a series of strikes that have masters backpedaling.
masters shoots in and bounces ahr off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. ahr looking for a sweep. Not yet ahr, not yet. masters wants to control from the top but ahr keeps moving. ahr working for a triangle but masters defends it easily.
masters thows a big elbow that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
bryce ahr dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
ahr has taken the fight to the clinch.
masters dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. ahr prevents the takedown attempt.
masters has dropped down and is working for a takedown. ahr is trying to keep an underhook but masters manages to get the takedown into half guard. masters tries to stand but his arm is trapped. ahr kicks masters off and gets back to his feet. ahr shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. ahr showed some decent athleticism there. ahr is controlling the pace.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. masters is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. masters gets full guard. ahr stopping the sweep attempt from masters. masters is looking to stand up but ahr isn't so interested in that idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. ahr stopping the sweep attempt from masters. masters looking for a guillotine here but ahr defends easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now masters is on top in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. masters trying to control but ahr is working from the bottom. masters is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. ahr avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. ahr manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. ahr throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for masters because ahr loaded up on that one. ahr unloads with some shots from mount but masters bucks and avoids them well.
masters is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
masters is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to bryce ahr. Well ahr has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
