The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aoki shoots in for a takedown but Johnson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Aoki shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Nice takedown defense from Johnson. No joy for Aoki on that attempt.

Aoki throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
BJ Aoki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Aoki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnson's waist but Johnson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Aoki off to one side.

Aoki is fighting off a takedown attempt but Johnson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Aoki to the mat. Aoki regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Aoki pulls Johnson in close to his closed guard and prevents Johnson from doing any damage or advancing position.

Aoki throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Aoki has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Johnson doesn't defend quickly enough and Aoki has managed to lock this one up! Can Johnson escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Aoki on a fantastic submission victory.
