Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Beam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Villi Kotobalavu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kotobalavu has chosen "Another Body Murdered" by Faith No more & Boo-Yaa Tribe as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Villi Kotobalavu has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Beam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Villi Kotobalavu!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beam looks to throw the jab but Kotobalavu is out of range.
Kotobalavu scores with a leg kick.
Jack Beam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beam loads up on a big right hand but Kotobalavu slips the punch.
Kotobalavu moves out of range of the strikes.
A slow jab from Beam misses its intended target.
Beam slips under a jab from Kotobalavu.
Beam tries to bum rush Kotobalavu with a series of wild strikes but Kotobalavu uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Beam looks to land a left hand but Kotobalavu moved out of range nicely.
Good standup being displayed there by Kotobalavu as he connects with a hook.
Beam lands with a hook. Kotobalavu tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Kotobalavu throws a leg kick but Beam sees it coming and moves out of range.
Beam connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Kotobalavu fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kotobalavu ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kotobalavu moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kotobalavu falls off balance throwing a combination
and Beam connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Beam shoots in and bounces Kotobalavu off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kotobalavu is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Beam postures up.

Beam drops back looking for a leg! Kotobalavu is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kotobalavu manages to kick Beam off! Beam jumps back into Kotobalavu's guard.
Beam is fighting to break Kotobalavu's control of his arms but Kotobalavu is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Beam drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kotobalavu looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kotobalavu looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kotobalavu!
Kotobalavu slows the pace down.
Let's hope that Kotobalavu has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Beam is trying to work for a sweep but Kotobalavu has mounted him!
Beam is working to get back to half guard.
Kotobalavu controlling the pace for now.

Beam is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Beam is working hard here to advance position.
Kotobalavu tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kotobalavu's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Kotobalavu looking to control but Beam is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kotobalavu tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Villi Kotobalavu just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kotobalavu thows a body shot but no joy.
Kotobalavu fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Beam.
Beam shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kotobalavu pinned against the cage. Kotobalavu gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Beam shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kotobalavu but Kotobalavu pushes him off and we're back to square one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Villi Kotobalavu dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Kotobalavu swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Beam looks to score with a jab to the body but Kotobalavu is just out of range.
Beam missing with a left hand there. Kotobalavu was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Kotobalavu lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Beam falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kotobalavu cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nice body kick there by Kotobalavu.
Kotobalavu scores with the left hand. Beam knows he should have avoided that one.
Nice uppercut lands for Kotobalavu. That snapped Beam's head back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Beam throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kotobalavu rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Beam moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kotobalavu moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Beam takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kotobalavu lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kotobalavu fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Kotobalavu lands a left and a right that send Beam crashing to the mat, dazed. Kotobalavu thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Beam is rocked!
Kotobalavu throws a leg kick which misses Beam's front leg but catches the back leg as Beam tries to avoid it.

Kotobalavu feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Beam sprawling to the canvas! Beam rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Kotobalavu finish him?!
Oh Beam is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kotobalavu cracks the inside of Beam's front leg.

Kotobalavu cracks Beam with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Beam looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Kotobalavu finish him?
Kotobalavu stuns Beam with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kotobalavu lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Beam falls backwards - clearly groggy! Kotobalavu dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Villi Kotobalavu!
