PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexis Tranchemontagne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tranchemontagne comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Frog Song kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tranchemontagne tries to clinch but Ribeiro is having none of it.
Ribeiro tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tranchemontagne swivels and escapes.
Ribeiro circles away from the clinch attempt.

Ribeiro wants a takedown but no success here.
Ribeiro could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ribeiro has Tranchemontagne pressed against the cage, preventing Tranchemontagne from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Tranchemontagne tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ribeiro smiles and moves away.

and Ribeiro counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tranchemontagne's guard now.
Ribeiro wants to stand and escape but instead Tranchemontagne has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Ribeiro has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Tranchemontagne off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Ribeiro has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Tranchemontagne avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Ribeiro goes for a takedown attempt but Tranchemontagne pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

You get the feeling that Tranchemontagne really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Ribeiro seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tranchemontagne for as long as he can get away with.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ribeiro, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
