The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drysdale stuffs the takedown. Machado scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. A lull in the action here. Drysdale is looking for a sweep. Drysdale is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Machado's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Drysdale is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Machado pulls his head out easily. Machado is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Machado is keen to just control but Drysdale is a slippery customer. Drysdale looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Machado looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Drysdale is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Machado pulls his head out easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Drysdale has closed the distance and engaged Machado in a clinch.
Drysdale lands with a light punch inside. Drysdale lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Drysdale manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Drysdale has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Machado can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
