Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darwin Ang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Darwin Ang looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Darwin Ang!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mir fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ang manages to avoid it.
Ang avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mir is defended easily by Ang.
Mir fails with the takedown.
Ang shoots for a takedown but Mir saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mir misses with a takedown attempt
letting Ang counter with a right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mir tries to clinch but Ang moves away

so Ang counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Mir wants to sweep here but Ang controlling him for the moment.
Mir is trying to control the position from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mir is on top in guard.

Mir thows a big elbow that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mir postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mir tries for a takedown but Ang circles away easily
and Ang counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Ang lands with a nice combination. Mir backs away looking to recover.
Mir gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ang counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Ang tries to hold on but Mir pushes him away.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ang is looking to get to half guard.
Mir unloads with some shots from mount but Ang bucks and avoids them well.
Mir controlling the pace for now.
Ang keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Mir is refusing to be controlled, as Ang sits in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mir is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

and Ang counters with a single leg into guard. Mir didn't expect that.

Ang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Ang counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mir's guard now.

Mir manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Mir tries to control but Ang wriggling away.

Mir is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Darwin Ang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Ang shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ang avoids the head kick by Mir.
Ang takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Frank Mir is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mir escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ang gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ang is looking to advance position but Mir has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Mir avoids the attempt from Ang to control.

Mir stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Mir throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ang uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mir.
Mir doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Ang counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Mir is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Ang has his hands clasped together but Mir extends an breaks Ang's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Mir.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Frank Mir!
