PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rajon Rondo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Pablo Escobar has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Pablo Escobar seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pablo Escobar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rajon Rondo !
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar throws a combination. Rondo tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Rajon Rondo has been cut.
Rondo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Escobar looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Escobar trying to control but Rondo is working from the bottom.
Escobar lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Escobar not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Rondo keeping moving, preventing Escobar from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Pablo Escobar.
Escobar tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Escobar takes the fight into the clinch.

Escobar pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pablo Escobar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Escobar cracks a nice hook into Rondo 's ribs.

Escobar has taken the fight to the clinch.

Escobar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Escobar looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Rondo !

Escobar has control of Rondo 's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rondo regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Escobar lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Escobar is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Rondo is surviving well by controlling Escobar's body position as best he can.
Escobar has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rondo 's face.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Escobar trying to control but Rondo is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A nice elbow there by Escobar.
Rondo is squirming around, avoiding Escobar's attempts to control the action.
Escobar controlling the position easily from mount.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rondo tries to lock up and control but Escobar gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Escobar looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Escobar landing strikes from the mount.
Escobar lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Escobar looking for a guillotine from mount but Rondo is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Escobar tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pablo Escobar dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Rajon Rondo 's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Escobar gets a clinch.
Escobar prevents a takedown attempt there.
Escobar stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Rondo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Escobar lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Escobar decides to stand and escape the position.

Rondo gets caught flat footed, as Escobar shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rondo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Escobar controls the pace.
Rondo is breathing heavily.
Rondo keeping moving, preventing Escobar from controlling successfully.
Escobar passes into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Escobar postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Rondo to stand up.

Escobar closes the distance and pushes Rondo back into the cage.
Escobar controlling the action here for a moment.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Escobar.
A right hand to the body from Escobar.

Escobar decides to pull guard.
Escobar wants to sweep but no luck.
Escobar manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Escobar swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
