Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Marshall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Omaly!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marshall changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Omaly looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Omaly tries to buck Marshall off but Marshall is having none of it.
Omaly can't do much from the bottom here.
Omaly parries the strikes from Marshall easily there. Marshall is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Omaly to escape.
Marshall lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Omaly down.
Omaly takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Omaly sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Omaly is trying to control but can't.
Marshall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Omaly keeps working.
Marshall has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Omaly moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Marshall got a little sloppy there for a moment and Omaly has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Marshall has managed to get both his arms back between Omaly's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Omaly working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marshall doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marshall manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Omaly is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Omaly can do anything to dispel that myth.
Omaly is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Marshall is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John Marshall.

Omaly drops back, looking for a kneebar! Marshall looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Marshall looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Marshall!
Marshall is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Omaly is trying to control Marshall's posture but Marshall avoids it.
Omaly is not content to let Marshall control the position.
Marshall is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Omaly's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Omaly decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Marshall shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Omaly's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
