Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Salazar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Max Fightmaster! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Salazar is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fightmaster's half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Salazar is thwarting Fightmaster's attempts to control the position. Salazar prevents Fightmaster from improving his position. Salazar frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Salazar is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Fightmaster has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Fightmaster! Fightmaster trying to control but Salazar is working from the bottom. Salazar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Salazar wants to sweep but no luck. Salazar is working hard here to advance position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salazar is adopting a defensive guard. Fightmaster controls from within his opponent's guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Salazar seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Salazar is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Fightmaster is stalling in the full guard. Salazar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Fightmaster must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Salazar is adopting a defensive guard. Fightmaster trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Fightmaster doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Fightmaster connects with a nice looking jab.
Fightmaster bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Salazar's head backwards. Salazar fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Salazar swings for the body but Fightmaster moves out of range.
Salazar fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. No luck for Salazar with that takedown attempt. Salazar fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miguel Salazar. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fightmaster feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Salazar sprawling to the canvas! Salazar rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Fightmaster finish him?!
Salazar is rocked! Salazar is breathing heavily. Salazar throws a series of punches but Fightmaster moves out of range. Oh Salazar is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Fightmaster shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Salazar takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Fightmaster sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Salazar bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Max Fightmaster!
