PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Kurose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khen Aranico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aranico has chosen Psycho as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Matthew Kurose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Khen Aranico!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aranico with a nice cross.
Aranico tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kurose was well out of range. Poor timing from Aranico.
Kurose fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Aranico connects with a body shot.
Kurose shoots for a double leg takedown but Aranico sprawls well. He's pushed Kurose's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Aranico gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Aranico is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aranico drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Aranico jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kurose fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Aranico sprawls well initially but Kurose persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kurose accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Aranico throws a lazy right hand but Kurose sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Matthew Kurose.
I think Aranico has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
