Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shane Lavelle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mads Soren Kassler! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lavelle scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kassler doesn't seem bothered though. Kassler looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Lavelle connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Lavelle scores with a takedown into Kassler's guard. Lavelle lands a couple of digs. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kassler keeping moving, preventing Lavelle from controlling successfully. Lavelle throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Lavelle stands up from Kassler's guard - Lavelle perhaps looking for a knockout. Lavelle feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Lavelle working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Lavelle throws a strike but Kassler rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kassler wants to control from the top but Lavelle keeps moving. Lavelle wants to stand up but Kassler is controlling him. Lavelle pulls Kassler in to control the position. Lavelle has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Lavelle is trying to control the position but Kassler postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Kassler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lavelle swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kassler wanted to stand there but Lavelle had control of the position. Lavelle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Lavelle shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Lavelle looking to pass the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lavelle stopping the sweep attempt from Kassler.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Lavelle gets a takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lavelle throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lavelle working over Kassler with some ground and pound. Kassler looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Lavelle thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Lavelle throwing shots but Kassler is blocking nicely. Kassler manages to get to full guard.
Lavelle loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kassler is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Lavelle is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kassler is just riding it out for now. Lavelle eventually gives up the hold.

Kassler is staying active underneath Lavelle, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Kassler on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Lavelle not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Kassler tries to roll over but Lavelle keeps him under control. Lavelle looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kassler with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Lavelle not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lavelle working over Kassler with some ground and pound. Kassler looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Lavelle passes to side control. Kassler takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Kassler is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Lavelle cracks Kassler with a big elbow. Lavelle tries to score with some ground and pound. Kassler controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Lavelle landing strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kassler taking a bit of punishment here - Lavelle scoring with strikes. Kassler tries to buck Lavelle off but Lavelle is having none of it. Kassler takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Lavelle connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kassler some visible discomfort.
Kassler is looking for a sweep. Lavelle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kassler keeps working. Check out the look on Lavelle's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Lavelle creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Lavelle lands a nice forearm strike. Lavelle grinds an elbow into Kassler's temple. Lavelle cracks Kassler with a big elbow. Kassler is trying to control Lavelle's posture but Lavelle avoids it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lavelle shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Kassler in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Lavelle has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kassler's face.

Kassler is rocked! The referee warns Kassler that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Kassler is still in real trouble! Can Lavelle finish him? Lavelle landing strikes from the mount and Kassler is in trouble! Lavelle cracks Kassler with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
