PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Harry Bach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaia Ky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bach might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to In the House In a Heartbeat. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Gaia Ky was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ky misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bach.
Bach misses with a wild body shot.
Bach avoids a kick to the body.

Bach shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bach jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ky is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ky and Bach has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Bach throws some wild stikes that Ky manages to avoid easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bach cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Bach has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

BOOM! Bach connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Bach breaks from Ky's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Bach throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Ky because Bach loaded up on that one.
Bach postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ky looks a forlorn figure.

Ky suckers Bach into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Ky is now in Bach's guard!

Bach thows a body shot but no joy.

Ky throws a lazy right hand but Bach sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ky scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Ky rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bach moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ky feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Bach's calf.
Bach throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Ky uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bach.
Ky wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Bach throws a big shot that misses.
Ky swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ky paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Ky misses with a body kick.

Ky gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Bach is trying to break free.

Bach is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Ky can't fight it off and eventually Bach manages to take the fight to the floor. Ky looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ky is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Ky is thwarting Bach's attempts to control the position.
Ky tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bach knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Ky wants to pass the guard but Bach is defending well.
Ky takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bach is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Bach misses with an uppercut. Ky saw that one coming.
Bach throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Gaia Ky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ky throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bach avoids the body shot from Ky.
Ky dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bach. That did some damage!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gaia Ky showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Ky avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bach crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Ky - the referee stops the clock and Bach gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Ky. Bach manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Bach chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ky can pounce on him.

and Bach counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Bach throws out a loose jab but Ky uses good head movement to avoid it.
Bach thows a body shot but no joy.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ky, right into the meat.

Bach takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Bach has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Ky.
Bach takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Bach looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Ky lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Ky moves out of range of the strikes.
A slow jab from Bach misses its intended target.

and Ky counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ky ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Gaia Ky is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The fight stays on the outside here - Ky looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Bach takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Ky fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bach.
Ky scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It looks like Harry Bach has been cut.
Bach takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Good standup being displayed there by Ky as he connects with a hook.
Bach is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Ky lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Ky stuns Bach with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Ky moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Bach gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Ky connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Bach is rocked!
Ky lands a right hook to the body.
Gaia Ky seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ky fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bach looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ky thuds his shin into the meat of Bach's side.
Ky tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bach swats him away and circles back towards the center.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gaia Ky comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
