Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Crayton Phelps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaime Howell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howell throws a head kick but Phelps moves out of range.
Howell misses with a head kick.
Phelps takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Howell moves in looking to clinch but Phelps pushes him off.
Howell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Phelps's waist but Phelps gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Howell off to one side.
Phelps shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Howell as he jumps to the side.
Howell misses with a wild combination.

and Phelps counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Howell is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Howell wants to get back to his feet but Phelps is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Phelps is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Howell is looking to stand up but Phelps isn't so interested in that idea.
Phelps is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Phelps's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Howell wants to clinch but Phelps slips to the side
and Phelps holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Howell is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
A left hand lands to the body for Howell.
Howell tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Crayton Phelps has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jaime Howell.
Phelps goes for a takedown attempt but Howell pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Howell shoots in and drives through. Phelps sprawls well.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Phelps here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Phelps stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Howell swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Phelps is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
